When I first met Martha, I was expecting to meet someone petite of stature and timid in nature. I could not have been more wrong on either count! At 6 feet tall, Martha is nearly a foot taller than me, and she has a personality that is even bigger! She is so vibrant and full of life and joy, and it was contagious.
This was not always the case, though it was when she was younger. Then, in her later life, Martha had a hysterectomy and things started changing. She began putting on weight even though she hadn’t changed anything in her lifestyle. She couldn’t control it easily, and soon began to deny and ignore the gain. She stopped looking in mirrors, and in fact she told me that she stopped looking at any shiny surface to avoid seeing her reflection. She cut the tags out of her clothes so she didn’t have to see the increasing sizes, and she began to hide-from cameras, from the world and from herself. She no longer felt as if her outside appearance matched who she was on the inside, so she no longer felt like herself at all.
Then, her son got married and she could no longer hide from the cameras. When she saw pictures of herself from the wedding she was shocked into the realization that she needed to make a change so that she could like the person she saw in the mirror each day. There was no more denying it, she wanted to feel like herself again and she was going to need to make some changes in order to make that happen. As it usually does, the universe put her in the right place at the right time, and she ran into an old friend, and they began to chat and Martha suggested they grab some lunch. Her friend said she couldn’t because she was on a cleanse, triggering a conversation about Isagenix and that is where Martha’s journey with rediscovering herself began. In the next 4 months she lost 67 pounds, and began to gain back the confidence that she had lost. She joined the company that gave her back the outside to match her inside, and she sparkles when she talks about how much she loves the company and the products!
What I love most about getting to know Martha, is that I can see (and could from our first meeting) how much she loves that she is back to herself after all of those years of hiding. She is vibrant, and genuine, and I am so glad that our paths crossed!
